good short made by our friend jeffy can. It has some cool effects and its about time travel! www.jeffycan.com for more info on him.
after we got hired to make the fusion hip hop dance competition dvds, we were also required to make a trailer. I finished it about a month ago for them. I’m a bit satisfied with the outcome of it, although it was kind of challenging introducing that many text without the feeling of it getting too repetitive. I wish there was some use of the track dolly, which would make the camera work a lot more interesting to edit. but all good, it was fun learning new programs for the hell of it. =D
joe has got me hooked on this band’s music videos. the songs are so epic and the videos are so awesome. Nostalgia at its best!
sigur ros with another good one
omg this is so epic. i am inspired.
Westscape has decided to collaborate with our good friend Jeffy Can on a new film project. We get to finally put together a more serious film aside from class projects. Since none of us have real film production courses we are taking this time to really put out a new project that we want to do and not what our class requires us to do. We have already started our pre-production phase and have become very ambitious with this project and where it maybe headed.
Not only do we have our collaboration video, but Joe and I are working together in creating another new film that is composed of live action footage and stop motion. The film involves the idea of pop culture and consumerism from 2000-2010.
So we can honestly say we are doing the right things at the moment in pushing ourselves with our work. Both films will be challenging to do, but we are up for the challenge and very excited at the same time.
Everything seems a little broad and vague at the moment, but things will be less cloudy as the next 3 months roll by. If these projects turn out successful in our eyes we plan on doing another screening like the Parted Lives one we had over a year ago, but with these new projects. We plan on submitting them to film festivals, so the online releases probably won’t be happening for these projects for a while. But things that are more exclusive tend to have more buzz, so I guess that’s also a good thing.
As a group we been focusing on collaborations and ideas to further push our company into a better place. So hopefully things turn out the way we’d like them to and eventually our hard work will one day pay off.
Joe just finished his short film called “When I Met Wes” that was done as a final for his class called Strategies of Alterity. What this means is that we will be releasing this short online sometime within the next 2-4 weeks after we let our previous short that was released settle in. Hopefully, I can get my lazy ass around to reworking the entire westscape site as well. =D
Also it seems we got a paying gig to edit and produce DVDs for a large dance competition called Fusion here at UCSD. I’ve heard of fusion multiple times and it seems like a very exciting event, especially for us college students. Even some teams from ABDC previously performed or will be performing this year. Anyways we will be attending the event for the first time so we have a grasp on how we should put it together. Expect a trailer within the next few months.
You can find more info on the event at http://fusionhiphop.com/
Post with 1 note
It may seem that we’ve been inactive for awhile in the film aspect, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been focusing on film. We are all near graduation and trying to graduate and most of our videos for class we aren’t satisfied with because at times we don’t feel like we are allowed to do it our way and yet alone enjoy them.
There has been discussion between Joe and I, and we are upgrading our equipment to an HD camera along with accessories and switching our primary editing program from Sony Vegas Pro to Final Cut Pro. Next school quarter should be a lot more fun because we won’t have production classes to take up our time and we can focus on creating new projects. We have two projects we plan on working on in the next 1-3 months. One is a project Joe has been wanting to remake involving the idea of consumerism the other we do not know yet, but we plan on working with our talented friend Jeffy Can.
Anyways, we will be uploading a new video in the next few days on Vimeo and Youtube. Well the video isn’t that new its actually a year old, we just been lagging on getting it up online. Its called “The I Beneath.”
